Call For Papers Track: 2 Hepatology
12th World Gastroenterology Conference 2022 Dubai, UAE
What is Hepatology?
Hepatology is a branch of medicine that studies, prevents, diagnoses, and manages diseases of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree, and pancreas. The term “hepatology” comes from the Greek words “hepatitis” and “logia,” which mean “liver” and “study,” respectively.
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 12th Edition of the World Gastroenterology and Hepatology Conference, which will be held in Dubai, UAE, from December 21–22, 2022.

The field of gastrointestinal medicine is rapidly evolving, making this an exciting time for doctors who treat digestive disease patients. Four innovations have the potential to change GI over the next decade: advances in sequencing technology, artificial intelligence, endo-robotics, and home testing.
Managing Hepatology Complications
We treat the following complications of liver disease:
· Cirrhosis is a common cause of portal hypertension, which is an increase in blood pressure within the portal vein (which transports blood from the digestive organs to the liver). This can result in variceal bleeding (blood vessel rupture in the food pipe), ascites (fluid buildup in the abdomen), and encephalopathy (mental confusion).
· Hepatocellular carcinoma: The most common primary malignant tumour of the liver, caused by scarring.
· Liver transplantation is the surgical replacement of a severely damaged liver with a healthy liver or a segment of a healthy liver from a deceased human organ donor.
Hepatologists treat a variety of conditions.
Hepatitis affects millions of people worldwide and is linked to a variety of negative outcomes, including liver transplant and liver cancer. Hepatitis B and C, in particular, are major causes of liver cancer, and alcohol abuse has been linked to conditions like cirrhosis and other serious complications.
Over two billion people have been infected with hepatitis B at some point, and approximately 350 million people are chronic carriers. The prevalence of hepatitis B has decreased significantly as a result of widespread vaccination and blood screening. However, hepatitis B and C are responsible for up to 80% of liver cancer cases.
Aside from these types of hepatitis, the most common conditions with which hepatologists deal are viral hepatitis and alcohol-related liver disease.

A hepatologist may assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of conditions, including:
· Fatty liver disease, liver cirrhosis, and liver cancer are all liver diseases caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
· Infections with viral hepatitis (hepatitis A, B, C, and E)
· Overdoes from drugs, particularly paracetamol,
· Jaundice
· Portal hypertension-induced gastrointestinal bleeding is linked to liver damage.
· Enzyme defects in children that cause liver enlargement, also known as liver storage diseases
· Tropical infections like hydatid cyst, kala-azar, and schistosomiasis
· Transplantation of the liver
· Cancer of the liver
· Liver disease caused by genetic and metabolic factors
· Pancreatitis is most commonly caused by alcohol consumption or gallstones.
· Metabolism of drugs
· Infection, cancer, alcohol, bleeding, or obstruction can all cause pancreas or biliary tract damage.
